In April 2007, Caring Senior Service and Spoon River Home Health formed a partnership in order to grow private-pay, non-medical services in Central Illinois. Along with skilled nursing, Spoon River operated a successful private-duty business.

But Spoon River Home Health owner Susan Platt saw that her non-skilled business would not grow without constant observation and involvement by her. This pulled her away from her passion-nursing. Susan partnered with Caring Senior Service, and now has part ownership in three non-skilled offices-as opposed to one. A fourth office is slated to open in November 2007.

"Partnering with Caring Senior Service allowed me to concentrate fully on my skilled-nursing business. This has allowed us to grow both the medical and non-medical side without sacrificing any patient care," Platt said. "We've grown so much on both sides that we are about to open a new office for Spoon River Home Health and Caring Senior Service here in Central Illinois."
